You are invited!!!
Check out DeveloperConnect where you can learn what others are doing to thrive in this IT world that is changing beneath our feet. We will talk about delivering content through multiple channels with a mobile first focus and what that means for connecting to legacy systems, the Internet of Things and the Cloud.
Whether you’re creating for yourself, the corporate world or the social good — you'll want to explore new coding tools to help you be faster, work easier and build better. What you take away from this gathering can help with system integration, cloud challenges, new product development and more.
This free event will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015 at IBM Technical Exploration Center, 8401 Greensboro Drive Suite #120, McLean, Virginia 22102. Please note we will also be offering free hands-on workshops (OPEN Labs) from 3:00 PM EST - 5:00 PM EST. Seats for these workshops are limited and are on first come first serve basis.

Lighting Talks - Descriptions:
1. The App Explosion: What does it means for developers? -The world has shifted to delivering content through multiple channels (traditional Web, mobile, etc), the Internet of Things and Cloud, which presents new challenges to developers. This talk will cover strategies for the developer to manage things like continuous delivery, connections to back-ends, mobile, security, and devops.
2. Building Next Gen Applications and Microservices - Come hear about best practices for building engaging next-gen applications including microservices that will help with scaling, continuous integration, high availability, and deploying your apps to both cloud and traditional environments.
3. Myth: You need to re-factor all of your applications to move to cloud - In order to take advantage of new cloud architectures or container based platforms, you have to follow application principles. What about Systems of Record applications? Do you need to refactor those in this new world of Cloud? Come to this session to learn how to take advantage of the cloud without rewriting all your apps.
4. Practical DevOps in Hybrid World - The world is Hybrid. Back-end systems continue to run on physical Infrastructure. Organizations are adopting hybrid solutions made up of on-prem and off-prem cloud, and of cloud adoption models including both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). For DevOps adoption, this is challenging as it results in application delivery pipelines that span across complex hybrid cloud and non-cloud environments.
This session will introduce IBM UrbanCode Deploy with Patterns (UCDP) for Application Delivery Automation across such hybrid environments. It will show how UCDP can also provision multiple cloud environments. We will use solution architectures from existing customers to explore deployment automation to hybrid cloud.
5. Overview and Strategy to Build, Deploy and Continuously Improve Mobile Apps - How do you rapidly and cost effectively deliver a portfolio of enterprise mobile applications? Explore with us how you can meet and exceed customer expectations and business requirements with a standards-based, mobile first application platform and an agile, integrated mobile DevOps strategy that helps you develop, connect, manage and secure mobile apps with unmatched speed and agility.
6. Shift Left to better business results: Deliver quality software continuously - Adopting a DevOps approach including a shift left in testing helps organizations accelerate delivery of higher quality software. Earlier and continuous testing enables teams to release with confidence, reduce cost and risk, and test with greater speed and efficiency. This session will demystify what a shift left approach to testing is all about.
7. Let's talk! Tell us what you want to discuss and learn about. On the day of the event Tweet your topics to @Dev_Events and maybe we'll pick your topic.
Hands-on Labs - Descriptions (from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM EST - first come first serve):
